The Hidden Power of "I AM"
In the stillness of the wilderness, a lone shepherd stood before a burning bush—a flame that consumed yet did not destroy. Moses, a man burdened by his past and uncertain of his future, trembled as the voice of God called his name. From the fire came a divine commission: to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt.
But Moses, gripped by fear and doubt, asked, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh? When they ask me who sent me, what shall I tell them?”
At that moment, God revealed a name unlike any other—a name that transcended time and space. “I AM” was not just a declaration of existence; it was a revelation of an eternal, self-sufficient being. It was the assurance that whatever was needed—strength, wisdom, provision, or deliverance—was contained within Him.
This divine name, “I AM,” became a touchstone of identity and power. When Jesus walked the earth centuries later, He echoed this eternal truth. He declared, “I am the bread of life,” “I am the light of the world,” and “Before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 6:35; 8:12; 8:58) Each statement was more than an affirmation; it was a proclamation of divine authority and presence.
But the hidden power of “I AM” extends beyond the pages of Scripture. It lives in us today, for we are made in God’s image. The words we speak after “I am” have creative power—they shape our reality, frame our identity, and chart the course of our destiny. When we declare, “I am strong,” we draw on the strength of the Almighty. When we say, “I am blessed,” we align ourselves with His promises.
Yet, this power carries responsibility. If we misuse it—declaring, “I am not enough,” or “I am broken”—we risk limiting ourselves and denying the fullness of God’s provision. The words “I AM” are a sacred bridge between the divine and the human, a reminder that we are not merely what the world says we are, but what God says we can become.
So, the next time you stand at a crossroads or face a mountain, remember the burning bush. Remember the God who declared, “I AM WHO I AM.” Speak with boldness and faith, for the same God who was with Moses is with you. His “I AM” empowers your “I am.”
And in that truth lies a power that can transform your life.
