The Power of Seeking First the Kingdom: A Life of Divine Provision Power To Prosper

By Chris N. Braza

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)

Life is often a race—a race for success, security, and satisfaction. We strive to build careers, provide for our families, and secure our future. But in the midst of this pursuit, Jesus gives us a powerful truth: When we seek God first, everything else falls into place.

What Does It Truly Mean to Seek First the Kingdom?

To seek first the Kingdom of God means to make God the center of our lives. It’s more than just attending church or reading the Bible occasionally. It means:

  • Surrendering our plans to Him—trusting that His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).
  • Living in righteousness—walking in obedience, integrity, and faith.
  • Desiring God above all else—choosing His presence over worldly distractions.

When we do this, we align ourselves with God’s divine order, and He takes responsibility for our needs.

The Kingdom Mindset: Trust Over Anxiety

The verse before Matthew 6:33 tells us not to worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:31-32). Worry is a sign that we are trusting in our own strength rather than in God’s provision. Jesus reassures us:

👉 God knows what we need before we ask. He takes care of the birds and clothes the flowers—how much more will He provide for us? (Matthew 6:26-30).
👉 Provision is a byproduct of seeking God. We don’t chase after blessings; we chase after God, and blessings follow.

"All These Things Will Be Added to You"—God’s Unfailing Promise

When we prioritize God’s Kingdom:
He meets our physical needs—food, shelter, finances, health.
He meets our emotional needs—peace, joy, and contentment.
He meets our spiritual needs—wisdom, purpose, and strength.

God’s provision isn’t just about material things—it’s about wholeness in every aspect of life.

How Can We Seek the Kingdom First?

1️⃣ Start your day with God. Make prayer and His Word your first priority, not an afterthought.
2️⃣ Align your desires with His will. Ask, “Lord, what do You want for my life?”
3️⃣ Trust God in times of uncertainty. Stop worrying about "what ifs" and start believing in "God's

will."
4️⃣ Live with an eternal perspective. Don’t chase temporary things—focus on what lasts forever.

Final Encouragement: A Life of Divine Alignment

God doesn’t want us living in constant stress over our future. When we seek Him first, He moves on our behalf. His blessings don’t come through striving but through surrender. Are you seeking Him first today?

Let’s choose faith over fear, worship over worry, and God’s will over our own. When we put Him first, He takes care of the rest.
