ROAD TO PALACE
By Chris Braza
Joseph was a young boy with big dreams. He lived in Canaan with his father, Jacob, and his eleven brothers. Joseph was Jacob’s favorite son, and his father gave him a beautiful coat of many colors. However, his brothers grew jealous of him, especially when he shared his dreams of one day becoming a great ruler.
One day, Joseph's brothers plotted against him. They threw him into a pit and later sold him to merchants heading to Egypt. In Egypt, Joseph was sold as a slave to a man named Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. Joseph worked hard and gained Potiphar’s trust, but trouble soon came when Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him. Joseph was thrown into prison, yet he remained faithful to God.
Even in prison, Joseph's wisdom and ability to interpret dreams became known. When Pharaoh had troubling dreams that no one could explain, Joseph was brought before him. Joseph told Pharaoh that Egypt would face seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Impressed by Joseph's wisdom, Pharaoh made him the second-in-command over all of Egypt.
During the famine, Joseph's brothers came to Egypt seeking food. They did not recognize him at first, but Joseph forgave them and provided for them. Eventually, he revealed his identity and his entire family moved to Egypt, fulfilling God's plan to save them.
