Introduction

In times of political unrest, division, and uncertainty, many wonder how Jesus would respond. During His earthly ministry, Jesus lived in an era of great political tension—Roman rule, Jewish expectations of a Messiah-King, and religious power struggles. Yet, Jesus did not align Himself with political factions. Instead, He demonstrated divine wisdom, showing how God’s kingdom transcends earthly politics.

I. Jesus Recognized but Did Not Depend on Earthly Governments

📖 Matthew 22:21 (NIV) – "Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s."

  • The Pharisees and Herodians tried to trap Jesus by asking whether they should pay taxes to Rome.

  • Jesus acknowledged the role of government but emphasized that ultimate allegiance belongs to God.

  • He taught that while earthly systems exist, they are not the source of salvation—God is.

II. Jesus Confronted Injustice with Truth and Love

📖 Luke 4:18-19 (NIV) – "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor… to set the oppressed free."

  • Jesus stood against oppression—not through violent rebellion but through the power of the Gospel.

  • He healed the sick, uplifted the outcasts, and challenged corrupt religious leaders.

  • His mission was to establish God’s justice, which is rooted in love, mercy, and righteousness.

III. Jesus Refused to Be a Political Savior

📖 John 6:15 (NIV) – "Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself."

  • Many expected Jesus to overthrow Rome and establish an earthly kingdom.

  • Instead, Jesus focused on the Kingdom of God, which is spiritual, eternal, and based on transformation of the heart.

  • He did not seek political power but came to change lives through salvation.

IV. Jesus Taught Us to Pray for Leaders and Trust God’s Sovereignty

📖 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV) – "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority."

  • Rather than stirring rebellion, Jesus taught His disciples to trust God and pray for leaders.

  • Governments will rise and fall, but God’s Kingdom remains unshaken.

V. Jesus Offers the Ultimate Solution – The Kingdom of God

📖 John 18:36 (NIV) – "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place."

  • Jesus’ solution to political turmoil was not force, but faith.

  • His followers are called to be peacemakers, salt, and light in a broken world.

  • The answer to corruption, injustice, and division is not found in human systems but in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Conclusion: The Church’s Role Today

  • As believers, we must not be consumed by political turmoil but seek first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).

  • We are called to stand for truth, justice, and love—not by worldly means, but through prayer, righteous living, and Gospel-centered action.

  • Like Jesus, we should not put our hope in politics but in the power of God to transform lives.

"Lord, in a world full of division and chaos, help us fix our eyes on You. May we be faithful in sharing Your truth, standing for righteousness, and trusting in Your perfect plan. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name, Amen."

PAANO HINARAP NI HESUS ANG MGA PROBLEMANG PULITIKAL SA KANIYANG PANAHON

Panimula

Sa gitna ng kaguluhan sa pulitika at pagkakabaha-bahagi ng lipunan, marami ang nagtatanong: “Paano nga ba hinaharap ni Hesus ang mga ganitong sitwasyon?”
Sa Kanyang panahon, ang Israel ay nasa ilalim ng mabigat na pamamahala ng mga Romano. May mga taong gustong gawing hari si Hesus upang iligtas sila mula sa pananakop, samantalang ang mga pinuno ng relihiyon ay gustong ipapatay Siya. Ngunit sa gitna ng lahat ng ito, hindi kailanman nawalan ng direksyon si Hesus. Itinuro Niya na ang tunay na solusyon ay hindi matatagpuan sa pulitika, kundi sa Kanyang Kaharian.

I. Kinikilala ni Hesus ang Gobyerno Pero Hindi Siya Umasa Rito

📖 Mateo 22:21 – "Ibigay ninyo kay Cesar ang para kay Cesar, at sa Diyos ang para sa Diyos."

  • Sinubukan Siyang bitagin ng mga Pariseo at Herodiano sa tanong tungkol sa pagbabayad ng buwis.

  • Hindi Siya lumaban sa gobyerno, ngunit hindi rin Siya nagtiwala rito bilang solusyon sa tunay na problema ng tao.

  • Ipinakita ni Hesus na bagamat may kapangyarihan ang tao sa lupa, ang tunay na awtoridad ay nasa Diyos.

II. Hinarap ni Hesus ang Kawalan ng Katarungan sa Pamamagitan ng Katotohanan at Pag-ibig

📖 Lucas 4:18-19 – "Isinugo ako upang ipangaral ang mabuting balita sa mahihirap… at palayain ang mga inaapi."

  • Hindi nagtipid si Hesus sa pagtutuwid ng maling sistema—kinastigo Niya ang mga pinunong mapanlinlang at mapang-api.

  • Hindi Siya gumamit ng dahas upang labanan ang katiwalian; sa halip, pinalaya Niya ang tao mula sa kasalanan—ang ugat ng lahat ng kaguluhan sa mundo.

III. Hindi Pinahintulutan ni Hesus na Siya ay Gawing Pulitikong Hari

📖 Juan 6:15 – "Nalaman ni Hesus na balak Siyang gawing hari ng mga tao kaya muli Siyang umakyat sa bundok upang mapag-isa."

  • Inakala ng mga tao na si Hesus ang magiging makapangyarihang lider na magpapalaya sa Israel mula sa Roma.

  • Ngunit ang layunin Niya ay hindi isang pansamantalang kaharian sa lupa, kundi ang walang hanggang Kaharian ng Diyos.

IV. Itinuro ni Hesus na Ipagdasal ang mga Namumuno at Magtiwala sa Diyos

📖 1 Timoteo 2:1-2 – "Idalangin ninyo ang lahat ng tao, lalo na ang mga hari at iba pang may kapangyarihan."

  • Sa halip na maging rebolusyonaryo laban sa gobyerno, itinuro ni Hesus at ng Kanyang mga alagad na ipanalangin ang mga nasa kapangyarihan.

  • Alam Niya na walang pamahalaang perpekto, kaya’t dapat tayong magtiwala sa Diyos na may ganap na kontrol sa lahat ng bagay.

V. Ang Tunay na Solusyon ay Hindi Pulitika, Kundi ang Kaharian ng Diyos

📖 Juan 18:36 – "Ang kaharian ko ay hindi mula sa mundong ito… kung mula rito, ipaglalaban ako ng aking mga tauhan upang hindi ako madakip ng mga pinuno ng mga Judio."

  • Ang sagot ni Hesus sa gulo at kaguluhan ay hindi sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalit ng gobyerno kundi sa pamamagitan ng pagbabagong-loob ng puso ng bawat isa.

  • Ang tunay na kalayaan ay hindi mula sa isang pulitikong lider, kundi mula sa kaligtasang iniaalok ni Kristo!

Konklusyon: Ano ang Papel ng Simbahan Ngayon?

  • Bilang mga Kristiyano, hindi natin dapat hayaang lamunin tayo ng alitan sa pulitika. Dapat nating unahin ang Kaharian ng Diyos! (Mateo 6:33)

  • Tumayo tayo para sa katotohanan, hustisya, at pag-ibig, hindi sa pamamagitan ng galit at paghihimagsik, kundi sa panalangin, mabuting pamumuhay, at pagbabahagi ng Ebanghelyo.

  • Tulad ni Hesus, hindi tayo dapat umasa sa sistema ng mundo kundi sa kapangyarihan ng Diyos upang baguhin ang buhay ng tao.

Panalangin

"Panginoon, sa gitna ng kaguluhan sa aming bayan, ituro Mo sa amin na Ikaw ang tunay na Hari. Huwag Mo kaming hayaang magtiwala sa tao, kundi sa Iyong makapangyarihang plano. Gamitin Mo kami bilang ilaw sa mundong ito upang ipahayag ang Iyong pag-ibig at katotohanan. Sa pangalan ni Hesus, Amen."
