In a world that’s becoming more tasteless—morally, spiritually, and emotionally—Jesus reminds us of our identity and our calling:
“You are the salt of the earth…” (Matthew 5:13)
Salt has many purposes. It preserves, it purifies, and most importantly, it adds flavor. And just like salt, we as followers of Christ are meant to preserve righteousness, purify our surroundings through godly living, and add flavor to the lives of people around us.
We are not called to blend in, but to stand out. We are not called to keep silent in a world full of lies—we are called to speak truth in love. Our presence should bring hope, healing, and conviction. Just like salt prevents decay, our lives must push back the darkness of sin.
But what happens when salt loses its saltiness?
Jesus warned, “It is no longer good for anything…” Let’s not allow compromise, fear, or complacency to rob us of our purpose. The world needs our saltiness—our boldness, our purity, our love, our unwavering faith.
This generation is hungry for something real. Let us be the salt that leads them to the Living Water. Let us live lives that make people thirst for Jesus.
TAGALOG
Sa mundong unti-unting nawawalan ng “lasa”—sa moralidad, espiritual, at emosyon—ipinaalala sa atin ni Jesus kung sino tayo at kung ano ang ating layunin:
“Kayo ang asin ng sanlibutan…” (Mateo 5:13)
Maraming gamit ang asin. Ito’y nagpe-preserba, naglilinis, at higit sa lahat, nagbibigay ng lasa. Gaya ng asin, tayo na mga tagasunod ni Kristo ay tinawag upang magpanatili ng katuwiran, maglinis ng kapaligiran sa pamamagitan ng maka-Diyos na pamumuhay, at magbigay ng "lasa" sa buhay ng iba.
Hindi tayo tinawag para makiayon sa mundo. Tinawag tayong maging kakaiba. Sa gitna ng kasinungalingan, tayo’y tinawag upang magsalita ng katotohanan na may pag-ibig. Ang presensya natin ay dapat magdala ng pag-asa, kagalingan, at pagbabago. Gaya ng asin na pumipigil sa pagkasira, tayo rin ay dapat lumaban sa kasalanan at kadiliman.
Pero paano kung ang asin ay mawalan ng alat?
Binalaan tayo ni Jesus, “Wala na itong silbi…” Huwag nating hayaang manakaw ng takot, pagkakompromiso, o katamaran ang ating layunin. Kailangan ng mundo ang alat natin—ang ating katapangan, kalinisan, pag-ibig, at matibay na pananampalataya.
Ang henerasyon ngayon ay nauuhaw sa katotohanan. Maging asin tayo na magtuturo sa kanila sa Buhay na Tubig. Mamuhay tayo sa paraang magpapauhaw sa iba kay Jesus.
