 MESSAGE: "When the Waters Rise" (A Biblical Perspective on Floods Today)

In recent days, we’ve witnessed heavy rains and devastating floods in many parts of our land. Homes submerged. Roads impassable. Lives disrupted. In moments like this, we can’t help but ask: Where is God when the waters rise?

Let’s look at the Word of God:

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you.” – Isaiah 43:2

This promise reminds us that even in times of natural disaster, God is not absent. He is present — not to cause fear, but to anchor our hope in Him.

The story of Noah’s flood in Genesis (Genesis 6–9) tells us not only about judgment, but also about God’s grace and provision. The ark became a place of refuge. Today, Jesus is our Ark — the One we run to for safety, peace, and eternal security.

God doesn’t always stop the storm, but He walks with us through it. He sends help through neighbors, churches, and even strangers. In every tragedy, there is an opportunity to show Christ's compassion.

So as the floods rise:

• Let’s pray for those affected.

• Let’s give and help as we can.

• And let’s trust that even in disaster, God’s hand is mighty to save.

Let this flood remind us to build not just homes on high ground, but lives on the solid rock of Christ.

“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew… yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” – Matthew 7:25

 MENSAHE: “Kapag Tumaas ang Tubig” (Isang Maka-Kasulatang Pananaw sa Baha Ngayon)

Sa mga nakaraang araw, maraming lugar ang nakaranas ng matitinding pag-ulan at pagbaha. Maraming tahanan ang lumubog, kalsadang hindi madaanan, at buhay na naapektuhan. Sa ganitong mga panahon, madalas nating itanong:

"Nasaan ang Diyos kapag bumabaha?"

Tingnan natin ang sinabi ng Salita ng Diyos:

“Kapag dumaan ka sa tubig, ako’y sasaiyo; at sa mga ilog, hindi ka matatangay ng agos.”

— Isaias 43:2

Pangakong ito ay paalala na sa gitna ng sakuna, hindi tayo iniiwan ng Diyos. Siya ay naroroon — hindi upang tayo’y takutin, kundi upang ipaalala na may pag-asa sa Kanya.

Ang kuwento ng Baha ni Noe sa Genesis 6–9 ay hindi lamang tungkol sa hatol, kundi tungkol din sa biyaya at kalinga ng Diyos. Ang arka ang naging lugar ng kaligtasan. Sa panahon natin ngayon, si Hesus ang ating Arka — Siya ang ating takbuhan at kanlungan sa gitna ng unos.

Hindi palaging pinapatigil ng Diyos ang bagyo, pero lagi Siyang kasama natin sa gitna nito. Nagpapadala Siya ng tulong sa pamamagitan ng kapitbahay, simbahan, at kahit hindi kakilala. Sa bawat sakuna, may pagkakataong ipakita ang pag-ibig ni Kristo.

Kaya habang ang baha’y patuloy:

• Tayo’y manalangin para sa mga naapektuhan.

• Tayo’y magbigay at tumulong sa abot ng ating makakaya.

• Tayo’y magtiwala na kahit sa gitna ng baha, makapangyarihan ang Diyos upang iligtas.

Nawa’y ang pagbaha ay hindi lamang magturo sa atin ng kahalagahan ng mataas na lupa, kundi ang pagbubuo ng ating buhay sa matibay na batong si Kristo.

“Umulan, bumaha, at bumayo ang hangin… ngunit hindi nagiba ang bahay, sapagkat ito'y nakatayo sa ibabaw ng bato.”

— Mateo 7:25

Mag-ingat. Magtiwala. Kasama natin ang Diyos — kahit sa gitna ng baha.
