Title: Let Justice Roll – Lessons from Amos 5:24

Bible Verse:
"But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!"Amos 5:24 (NIV)

The prophet Amos delivers a powerful message that still speaks deeply to our world today. In a time when religious rituals were being performed without genuine heart and obedience, God calls His people back to what truly matters. Here are three vital truths we can take from Amos 5:24:

1. God Desires Justice Over Empty Rituals

Amos 5:24 is a rebuke to those who pretend to honor God with their lips but ignore justice in their actions. God is not impressed by worship if our hearts are far from Him. He wants our lives to reflect His character—especially in how we treat others. True faith is not just about church attendance, singing, or giving offerings—it’s about standing up for what’s right and fair.

2. Righteousness Must Be a Lifestyle, Not a Moment

The verse uses the image of a never-failing stream to describe righteousness. It should not come and go like a seasonal river but flow continuously. Righteousness is not a one-time act or Sunday-only behavior; it is a constant, daily walk of integrity, humility, and right living. It means doing what’s right even when no one is watching.

3. Justice and Righteousness Go Hand in Hand

Justice (fairness in society) and righteousness (moral integrity) are inseparable in God’s eyes. A just society begins with individuals who live righteously. As believers, we are called to be both advocates of justice in our communities and examples of righteousness in our personal lives. When both flow together, like a river and stream, they bring life, healing, and transformation.

Reflection:
In a world full of injustice, corruption, and superficial religion, Amos 5:24 calls us back to God’s heart. He is not seeking performance but transformation. Let us be people whose faith shows up in how we love others, defend the weak, and walk uprightly—so that justice and righteousness truly flow from our lives.

Pamagat: Hayaan ang Katarungan ay Umagos – Mga Aral mula sa Amos 5:24

Talata:
