SERMON OUTLINE

“IKAPU BA O BIYAYA? — ANG TUNAY NA ANYO NG PAGBIBIGAY SA BAGONG TIPAN”

(From Old Testament Law to New Testament Grace)

I. INTRODUCTION: THE QUESTION OF THE CHURCH TODAY

II. LUMANG TIPAN: ANG IKAPU BILANG TIPAN AT SISTEMA

(Purpose: To show tithe as part of Israel’s covenant, not the church’s law)

A. Kusang-Loob na Simula (Gen. 14; 28)

  • Abraham at Jacob — voluntary, not commanded.

B. Naging Batas sa Sinai

Scripture: Leviticus 27:30–32; Numbers 18:21–24

  • Israel = may templo, may lupang mana, may Levitical priesthood.

  1. Tithe for Levites

  2. Tithe for Festivals

  3. Tithe for the Poor (Every 3 years)
    Total ~23–30%

D. Purpose of OT Tithing

  • Support for Levites

  • National worship

  • Provision for the poor

  • Identity of Israel as a covenant nation

III. PAGLILIPAT NG PANAHON: CHRIST, THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW

Scripture: Hebrews 7:12

A. Si Cristo ang bagong High Priest

IV. BAGONG TIPAN: ANG BAGONG PAMANTAYAN NG PAGBIBIGAY

(Not percentage, but posture of the heart)

A. Kusang-Loob (2 Cor. 9:7)

“Not reluctantly or under compulsion.”

B. Ayon sa Kakayahan (1 Cor. 16:2)

  • Hindi pantay-pantay ang 10% sa lahat.

  • God honors capacity, not percentage.

C. Masagana at Masaya (2 Cor. 8:1–4)

  • Macedonians = “beyond their ability.”

D. Purpose of Giving in NT

  • To support gospel work (1 Tim. 5:17–18)

  • To help the poor (Gal. 2:10)

  • To advance the kingdom

  • To express worship, not duty

V. SHOULD WE TITHE TODAY? BIBLICAL AND BALANCED ANSWER

B. Maaari bilang spiritual discipline

C. NT standard is higher than 10%

  • Not minimum giving but maximum love.

  • God owns not 10%, but 100%.

VI. APPLICATION: HOW SHOULD CHRISTIANS GIVE TODAY?

A. Pray and Decide (Heart Decision)

  • Hindi emosyonal, hindi impulsive.

  • Decide before God what is right.

B. Give Regularly and Orderly

  • Practice discipline in generosity.

C. Support Gospel Missions

  • Pastors, missionaries, church work.

D. Give Sacrificially When God Calls

  • Above and beyond when God moves your heart.

VII. CONCLUSION: THE HEART OF THE MATTER

  • God is not after your percentage; He is after your heart.

  • The OT tithe was a shadow, but Christ brought the substance.

VIII. CLOSING CHALLENGE

“Grace giving is not about 10%. It is about surrendering everything back to the God who gave His all.”
