WHY ARE THE LAW OF ASSUMPTION AND THE LAW OF ATTRACTION SO POPULAR?

AND DO THEY REALLY WORK?

BRAZAAR CHAIN

I. WHY THEY ARE SO POPULAR

1. Because people want control over their future.

Humans naturally desire predictability, peace, and assurance.
LOA/LOA (Law of Attraction & Law of Assumption) promise:

  • “You can shape your reality with your mind.”

  • “Think it, feel it, and it will be yours.”

This creates a sense of power, which is psychologically comforting.

2. Because the modern generation is hungry for quick results.

These teachings offer:

  • fast solutions

  • instant emotional relief

  • success and happiness without spiritual accountability

It fits well with a culture shaped by self-help, social media, and “manifesting trends.”

3. Because they speak to genuine human needs — identity, hope, and desire.

People want to:

  • succeed

  • escape poverty

  • improve relationships

  • find meaning

These “laws” provide a simple formula that feels accessible.

4. Because they use scientific-sounding language.

Phrases like:

  • “vibrations”

  • “frequency”

  • “energy alignment”

sound deep and scientific, but they are not grounded in real science, only metaphors.

5. Because testimonies on TikTok and YouTube reinforce them.

People share their “success stories,” creating the illusion of a universal principle.
But people rarely share:

  • failures

  • disappointments

  • contradictions

  • the role of chance or effort

So the perception becomes: “It always works.”

II. DO THEY REALLY WORK?

The honest answer is both yes and no — but not for the reasons people think.

Let’s break it down:

A. YES — They “work” in a psychological and practical sense

1. Because your beliefs affect your behavior.

If you assume success, you:

  • act more confidently

  • take more initiative

  • notice more opportunities

  • persist longer

  • improve your social presence

This can create actual results.

In psychology, this is called the self-fulfilling prophecy.

2. Because focus shapes perception.

When you expect something, your brain filters information accordingly.

This is called the Reticular Activating System (RAS).
It’s why:

  • When you want to buy a red car, you suddenly see red cars everywhere.

  • When you aim for a job, you are more alert to openings.

This feels supernatural, but it’s actually cognitive science.

B. NO — They do NOT work as universal spiritual laws

1. They cannot override reality, sovereignty, or circumstances.

You can’t manifest:

  • someone to love you

  • healing from terminal illness simply by thought

  • money magically arriving

  • success without competence

  • miracles apart from God’s will

2. They cannot replace responsibility or wisdom.

You can assume success but still fail if you:

  • do not work

  • do not grow

  • make foolish choices

  • ignore counsel

  • violate biblical principles

3. They can create false hope and spiritual confusion.

Some dangers:

  • blames people for their suffering (“You didn’t manifest correctly”)

  • turns your mind into a “god”

  • removes humility before the true God

  • disconnects people from repentance, obedience, and character

4. They subtly promote self-worship (self-deification).

This is the core issue:

“I create my own reality.”
“I am the source of my own blessing.”

This contradicts the Scriptures, which say:

  • God is sovereign.

  • Faith aligns us with His will, not our own fantasies.

  • Blessing flows from obedience and relationship, not “vibrations.”

III. BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE: WHAT ACTUALLY WORKS

1. The Bible affirms mindset principles — but under God’s rule.

  • “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Prov. 23:7)

  • “Be transformed by renewing your mind.” (Rom. 12:2)

  • “We walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Cor. 5:7)

But biblical faith is not:

  • manifesting

  • assuming

  • attracting

Biblical faith is:

  • trusting God

  • obeying His word

  • submitting to His purpose

  • walking in wisdom

  • surrendering outcomes

2. God changes us, not simply our thoughts.

Manifestation is human-centered.
Transformation is God-centered.

3. The true source of blessing is God, not vibration.

“Every good and perfect gift comes from above.” (James 1:17)

IV. FINAL ANSWER: DO THEY WORK?

YES, in a limited psychological way:

They shape behavior, confidence, and focus.

NO, as spiritual laws:

They cannot control destiny, override God, or function as “universal principles.”

YES, they are popular because they meet emotional needs.

NO, they are not a replacement for biblical faith.

V. BALANCED CONCLUSION

The Law of Assumption and Law of Attraction are not inherently evil, but they are:

  • incomplete

  • misleading

  • spiritually shallow

  • centered on self, not God

The Bible offers something deeper:

👉 Not manifesting reality, but surrendering to God’s reality.
👉 Not assuming outcomes, but trusting God’s sovereignty.
👉 Not attracting blessing, but walking under God’s favor.
