INTRODUCTION

Beloved brothers and sisters,
there are moments in life when heaven feels silent.
We pray—but answers seem delayed.
We seek—but direction feels unclear.
We knock—but doors remain closed.

And yet, in the middle of that tension, Jesus speaks these simple but powerful words:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
— Matthew 7:7

This is not a motivational quote.
This is not a religious slogan.
This is a spiritual invitation.

Jesus is teaching us how faith moves, how prayer breathes, and how relationship with God deepens.

BRAZAAR CHAIN

I. ASK — THE HUMILITY TO DEPEND ON GOD

Jesus begins with Ask.

To ask means you acknowledge that you are not enough on your own.
Asking is an act of humility.

Many people don’t pray because they think:

  • “I should handle this myself.”

  • “God is too busy.”

  • “Others have bigger problems.”

But prayer is not bothering God.
Prayer is belonging to God.

When we ask, we declare:

“Lord, You are my source, not my strength.”

God is not moved by proud prayers.
He responds to honest ones.

Ask—not because you deserve it,
but because He is a good Father.

II. SEEK — THE HUNGER TO PURSUE GOD

Jesus does not stop at asking.
He says, Seek.

Seeking requires effort.
Seeking requires focus.
Seeking requires time.

Many ask God for blessings,
but few seek God’s presence.

Seeking God means:

  • Opening the Word even when it convicts

  • Choosing obedience when it costs

  • Pursuing holiness when compromise is easier

You don’t accidentally find God’s will.
You pursue it.

Those who seek God may not get instant answers,
but they gain wisdom, clarity, and spiritual maturity.

III. KNOCK — THE FAITH TO PERSEVERE

Finally, Jesus says, Knock.

Knocking means the door is closed.
Knocking means delay.
Knocking means waiting.

Faith is not proven when doors open quickly.
Faith is revealed when you keep knocking even when nothing happens.

Some of the greatest breakthroughs in Scripture came after persistence:

  • Hannah kept praying

  • Elijah kept sending his servant

  • The widow kept coming to the judge

God’s silence is not absence.
God’s delay is not denial.

Sometimes the door remains closed not because God is unwilling—
but because He is preparing you for what’s behind it.

IV. THE PROMISE BEHIND THE PRACTICE

Matthew 7:7 is not a formula.
It is a relationship principle.

Jesus is not teaching us how to get things from God—
He is teaching us how to walk with God.

Sometimes:

  • What we ask for changes

  • What we seek reshapes us

  • The door that opens surprises us

But one thing is certain:
God responds to those who come to Him sincerely.

CONCLUSION: A CALL TO THE SOUL

Church, hear this clearly today:

When you don’t know what to do—ask.
When you don’t know where to go—seek.
When you feel stuck—knock.

Do not quit praying.
Do not grow silent.
Do not shrink your faith.

The God who tells you to ask is generous.
The God who invites you to seek is near.
The God who asks you to knock is already on the other side of the door.

So ask boldly.
Seek earnestly.
Knock faithfully.

Because the courage to pursue God
will always be met by the faithfulness of God.
