Everything That Can Be Shaken Will Be Shaken

"Yet once more I shake not only the earth but also heaven." — Hebrews 12:26
We live in a world that is constantly trembling.
Nations rise and fall. Economies flourish and then collapse. Technologies that once amazed us become obsolete. Institutions that seemed invincible suddenly reveal their weaknesses. Even the things we personally treasure—our plans, careers, relationships, and dreams—can be shaken in a moment.
The question is not whether shaking will come.
The question is: What will remain when the shaking is over?
The God Who Shakes
The writer of Hebrews reminds us of a startling promise from God:
"Yet once more I shake not only the earth but also heaven."
At first glance, these words may sound frightening. Why would God shake the earth? Why would He shake heaven?
The answer lies in God's purpose.
God does not shake creation because He delights in destruction. He shakes what is temporary to reveal what is eternal. He shakes what is unstable to expose what is secure. He shakes what is false so that what is true may stand in plain sight.
The shaking is not an act of cruelty. It is an act of divine revelation.
Even Heaven Will Be Shaken
When Scripture speaks of heaven being shaken, it does not refer to God's throne becoming unstable. God's kingdom can never be moved.
Rather, it points to the created order itself—the heavens, the cosmos, the systems and structures of this present age.
The message is profound:
Everything that belongs to creation is temporary.
The stars may fade.
The heavens may pass away.
The kingdoms of men may disappear.
But God remains.
The One who spoke the universe into existence is not threatened by the passing of the universe.
The Purpose of the Shaking
Whenever God allows shaking, He is asking a question:
What are you trusting in?
Many trust in money until financial storms arrive.
Many trust in health until sickness knocks on the door.
Many trust in power until they lose influence.
Many trust in religious activity until God exposes the condition of their hearts.
Shaking reveals foundations.
A storm does not create weakness in a building; it exposes weakness that was already there.
Likewise, life's trials reveal where our confidence truly rests.
The Unshakable Kingdom
The good news of Hebrews is not that everything will be shaken.
The good news is that something cannot be shaken.
The writer declares that believers are receiving:
"A kingdom which cannot be shaken."
This kingdom is not built by human hands.
It is founded upon the eternal reign of Christ.
Political powers will change.
Cultures will change.
Generations will change.
But the kingdom of God remains forever.
Jesus Christ remains forever.
The Word of God remains forever.
The Gospel remains forever.
The Church of Jesus Christ remains forever.
When everything else is moving, the believer has an anchor.
A Message for the Church Today
We are living in days when many things are being tested.
Truth is being questioned.
Morality is being redefined.
Faith is being challenged.
Many hearts are failing because of fear and uncertainty.
Yet perhaps the greatest danger is not the shaking itself.
The greatest danger is being attached to things that cannot survive the shaking.
God is calling His people back to the essentials:
Back to prayer.
Back to holiness.
Back to Scripture.
Back to the Lordship of Christ.
Back to a faith that does not depend on circumstances.
The Church must not fear the shaking.
The Church must be prepared by the shaking.
Feed Your Soul
When God shakes the earth and the heavens, He is not abandoning His people.
He is refining them.
He is separating the temporary from the eternal.
He is reminding us that our hope was never meant to rest upon earthly foundations.
One day, every throne but His will fall.
Every kingdom but His will pass away.
Every glory but His will fade.
But those who belong to Christ will stand secure within an unshakable kingdom.
Therefore, let us hold tightly to the One who cannot be shaken.
For when the dust settles and the shaking ceases, Christ will still be King.
And that is enough.
BE BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE!
Feed your soul. Stand firm. The Kingdom remains.
