“Fear Not: God Can Turn Your Pain into Purpose”
A Soul-Soothing Reflection on Genesis 50:21
By Chris N. Braza
“Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.”
— Genesis 50:21 (KJV)
There are moments in life when the wounds inflicted by others seem too deep to heal. Betrayal leaves scars. Rejection creates loneliness. Unfair treatment produces bitterness. Yet the story of Joseph teaches us one of the most beautiful truths in all of Scripture: God can transform pain into purpose and suffering into blessing.
May this truth settle gently upon your weary soul today.
Fear Not
Huwag Kang Matakot
Joseph stood before the very brothers who had betrayed him, sold him into slavery, and caused years of suffering. Humanly speaking, he had every reason to seek revenge. Yet instead of retaliation, Joseph spoke words of grace:
“Fear not.”
What powerful words.
Many people live in fear—fear of the future, fear of failure, fear of judgment, fear of being abandoned. But God's message to His children remains the same:
“Fear not, for I am with you.”
Kapag kasama natin ang Diyos, hindi natin kailangang matakot sa mga pangyayari sa buhay. Ang Diyos na nag-ingat kay Joseph sa bilangguan ay siya ring Diyos na nag-iingat sa atin ngayon.
The God who guided Joseph through his darkest nights is still guiding His people through their own valleys today.
I Will Nourish You
Aalagaan Kita
Joseph not only forgave his brothers; he promised to provide for them.
“I will nourish you, and your little ones.”
This reflects the very heart of God.
Our Heavenly Father is not merely a God who forgives; He is a God who provides. He knows every need before we even speak it. He sees the burden hidden behind our smiles. He understands the silent tears we cry at night.
He nourishes our bodies, strengthens our hearts, and refreshes our souls.
He Comforted Them
Inaliw Niya Sila
Joseph's brothers were expecting punishment.
Instead, they received comfort.
This is also the way of Christ.
When we come to Him broken and burdened, He does not push us away. He welcomes us. He speaks peace into our storms and hope into our despair.
God's comfort is not merely the removal of pain. It is His presence with us in the middle of the pain.
He Spoke Kindly Unto Them
Nagsalita Siya Nang May Kabutihan
Kind words have healing power.
Joseph could have reminded his brothers of their sins. Instead, he spoke kindly.
How desperately our world needs kindness today.
A gentle word can restore a broken spirit.
A kind conversation can heal a wounded heart.
A loving response can stop the spread of bitterness.
Bilang mga tagasunod ni Cristo, tinatawag tayong maging mga daluyan ng biyaya. Ang ating mga salita ay dapat magbigay-buhay at hindi sugat; magdala ng pag-asa at hindi panghihina.
May our words reflect the kindness we ourselves have received from God.
At The Divine Table
Sa Hapag ng Diyos
Genesis 50:21 reminds us that forgiveness is stronger than revenge, love is greater than hatred, and God's purpose is bigger than our pain.
Whatever burden you carry today, hear the gentle voice of God speaking to your heart:
“Fear not.”
You are not forgotten.
You are not abandoned.
You are not beyond God's care.
The same God who sustained Joseph will sustain you.
The same God who comforted Joseph's family will comfort yours.
The same God who turned tragedy into testimony can do the same in your life.
Prayer
Panalangin
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your comforting presence. When fear surrounds us, remind us that You are near. Teach us to forgive as Joseph forgave, to comfort as he comforted, and to speak kindly as he spoke kindly. Nourish our souls, strengthen our faith, and help us trust Your purpose even when we do not understand our circumstances. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

“The hands that wounded you may not heal you, but the God who carried you through the wound will never leave you. Fear not, for His grace is enough.”
